Is Black Lives Matter A Nobel Cause?

There is much euphoria as a new Government has assumed power in America. Some even seem to think America has become a different country overnight.

A BLM protest march

A few thousand votes in one direction or the other may change the nation’s politics, but they don’t make us a different country. Thanks to those who realize this distinction and continue Black Lives Matter protests!

February is Black History Month. We may wish to celebrate with collective amnesia and forget what happened to George Floyd and people like him before and since. But racism against Black people will not just disappear by wishful thinking. It requires a constant struggle within to understand their history and its consequences to change ourselves and those around us.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) is not just a call for America. It is a just cause against racism and oppression across the world. Does the BLM movement deserve the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize? Norwegian MP Petter Eide makes a compelling case in his nomination. I concur.

A bit about me.

At the funeral service this week for an aged relative of mine who was perhaps the nicest person I have ever known, I heard this: Do something good today in his memory. Let us do something good in the Black History Month for people historically oppressed.
